Speaking with Game Informer, Square Enix Creative Business Unit III revealed that the developer is not currently planning a Final Fantasy XVI Day One patch, as the team is confident in what it has achieved with the final build of the game.
Final Fantasy XVI Director Hiroshi Takai revealed that both him and producer Naoki Yoshida believe that Final Fantasy XVI should be in a solid state at launch, noting that not everyone will have access to the Internet to download a day one patch in regards to the game’s simultaneous worldwide release.
Takai-san added that the development team is testing the game on a daily basis to hunt out any remaining bugs, and as such things could change. As it stands though, a day one patch is not currently in the pipeline.
Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled to ship exclusively for PS5 on June 22, 2023. Square Enix will release a demo for the game prior to launch, which will focus on the first few hours of the game and depict Clive’s time as a teenager.
