Minecraft: Story Mode Seasons 1 and 2 Will be Delisted Later this Month

Minecraft: Story Mode to be Delisted

Both seasons of Telltale Games’ Minecraft: Story Mode will be delisted on the 25th June 2019, according to a statement released a couple of days ago.

After this time, it will no longer be possible to download and play either game unless their constituent episodes have already been installed on your PS4. Here’s the rather brief statement in full:

On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June.

What if any effect this will have on the recent Netflix port of Season 1, on the other hand, is unknown at this stage.

Hardly a Surprise

Given the well-publicised troubles Telltale Games has faced over the last twelve months, culminating in a “majority studio closure”, today’s news hardly comes as a surprise.

Indeed, a cursory search on the PlayStation Store reveals that Minecraft: Story Mode is far from the only Telltale Games IP that has been made unavailable for download and purchase in recent times.

Game of Thrones is currently listed as such on PSN; as is Tales from the Borderlands. The latter of which being, in my opinion at least, right up there with The Walking Dead: Season 1 as the very best episodic adventure Telltale has ever produced and one of the finest examples of the genre in the history of the medium.

And it’s possible the same fate could await the likes of The Wolf Among Us and Batman: The Telltale Series, too.

Feel free to share your thoughts on Minecraft: Story Mode’s imminent disappearance down in the comments.
